It is said that when we utter the nembutsu, that is Amida calling to us.
This is why it is called the Name-that-calls. It is based on the philosophy that the concepts of “I”, “my”, “me” and “mine” are temporary abstract ones.
Thus in declaring my faith in Amida Buddha by uttering “Namu Amida Buddha”, that is Amida calling to me.

But Gotama also said in the Amitabha sutra, that this is another path to englightment. Our world is getting harder and harder to follow the dharma properly.
With all the attachments+delusions. I can kind off agree with you we can do more, but i dont agree with you on the part of “this is not enough.”
I dont consider myself a mahayana or thervada buddhist, i mix them both ( even though im a slight mahayana).
Does Thervada believe in Amitibha’s pureland? just curious

i am theravada buddhist and to us this is not enough to become a buddha one must study on himself and follow the words only from siddatha gotama and follow his teachings from siddatha gotama allone and follow his path by meditation

I’m not a Buddhist myself, so excuse me if I got some of this wrong. I studied Pure Land for a while, though.
Apparently the religion asks that you take faith in the Amida Buddha, and to declare this faith with the phrase “Namu Amida Butsu”, or “I place my faith in the Amida Buddha”. From there it gets a little bit more complex.
In one form of Pure Land, you should (but need not) meditate on Buddha. In another, just say the words, and that’s it. The third one says feeling Buddha is enough.

Just realizing these things and trying to be better is all there is to it. So, take a deep breath, relax, forgive yourself, and try to be better. If you stumble, that’s OK. Salvation and enlightenment isn’t attained easily, but you’ll get there.

if one recites his name at the moment of their death, they will be reborn in Amitabha pureland. That being said, it not easy. At that moment, your body is in excruciating pain. Your mind is undoubtedly confused, terrified, and full of attachment. It very hard to think of reciting!
