OSHO: Selling Bliss
OSHO International Foundation – www.osho.com –FREEDOM AND RESPONSIBILITY– Perhaps a Christian conditioning makes people think that anything ‘spiritual’ should be free. Osho’s insight is that the mind gives scant value to anything that is free. Nothing around Osho was free. He reminded us again and again of the importance to remember that freedom comes only from responsibility and one such responsibility is that of paying. Osho has responded to many questions in this regards. Some text excerpts here, another excerpt is available as video from a press interview. “You are ready to go to the movie and pay for it; why should you not pay for your meditation and the lecture if you want to hear it?” “You ask why you have to pay here? The price that is asked is nothing; it is just the beginning of learning a certain lesson that one has to pay for everything, and … CERTAINLY for meditation — because it is the highest thing in life.” “You pay for everything in life, why not for your meditation? ” Quotes from: The Discipline of Transcendence, Vol 4,#10

it makes sense. If you see someone teaching for free, you assume less value than someone who charges a huge amount for a session. At least that is the way i see it.

for those that cannot take what he is giving away. He will take their money because it will help them realize that nothingness is indeed the greatest treasure.

probably. as he explained there is no need to reject money. With his approach the money flows like honey.

because laughter is stress release, and true wisdom always releases us from our falseness

Sometimes I wish he would have agreed to a formal debate because he was so good at it. It so fun to see him really engaging a with a person. Maybe some of his early debates will surface someday.

one of the main reasons it means so much in the end is because the message is delivered in slow motion. no need to rush the truth. for eternity its there and when its spoken, lived or felt, its there. osho is the man

Ohso is cool. Although his delivery is in slow motion, the end result is a gem. I can imagine a retreat to his would effectively purge one from stress

Jawfrosh, A slight but important adjustment on your astute ovservation. Osho can not read the interviewers ‘thoughts’ but can easily interpret his ‘behavior’ which is smug and condescending. I believe Oshos awareness of the guys ignorance is hard to contain. Great point though.
