Dimarzio Air zone/ Air norton

Mahogany/Maple for the body and Maple/Ebony for the neck.
I will have soon a new neck with a Rosewood fretboard.

I think I found my next pickup.

Very cool. I’ve watched many of your videos. Awesome job. I’ve found my pickup combination I like after many tries. DiMarzio Norton (the regular, not the Air Norton) in the bridge and the DiMarzio PAF Joe in the neck. Excellent combo.

I’d like you to demo The “Norton” (Bridge) & The “PAF 36th Anniversary Edition” (Neck)

Thinking of using a Dimarzio X2N in the bridge, but not sure which pickups would work together.

In terms of choosing and buying new pickups, there is little difference. More for shaping your tone and personal taste. If you play a gig, no one in the audience will notice…or care.
And Stereo speakers??? Don’t fuck around! get an amp!!

Do the pickups actually make that much difference in your tone? I have a prs with fancy gibson burstbukcers in it and a 100 dollar ibanez geo (single coils) and i can make it sound very similar to the prs with the use of a deltalab pedal.. It seems to me that the pedal you use has the greatest affect on your tone. I also prefer to use high quality stereo speakers and hook them up directly to my pedal through an audio in cable, so its not like im using a cheap amp.

These are warm sounding for a DiMarzio. I liken the sound to Vito Bratta’s earlier sound and not so much Randy Rhoads and other harmonic squeeler types.

I make video when a configuration of pickups seems to me interesting and can interest of other guitarists.

Do you change out the pickups for each vid?

Awesome! sound great..
I love both pickups in this position.
Anyone know what’s pickup is good with them in the middle(single coil or hum canceling) dimarzio?

The beginning tells us the wood of your guitar… who actually made it? It looks pretty awesome. I never really liked the look of a guitar without any sort of paitn or stain… but your guitar made me appreciate the natural look wood can have.

I’m not who your were asking, but any of the PAF pickups, the PAF Pro especially, the Air Classic perhaps… the FRED pickup shouldn’t take away the harsness as muc has bring out the correc tcharacter… what’s likely happening is the pckups and your guitar aren’t matched well… so, they bring out only part of the character… the FRED pickup should bring out the rest, and you shoul hear what you guitar was meant t osound like.

Thank you for your video.
I have a question. I own ESP LTD M1000 with EMGs and this guitar has extremely harsh and cold tone. What DiMarzio neck pickup can you recommend me to сut harsh high notes and achieve mellow, warm, fat sound, that “sings”?

IMO there aren’t many really warm sounding dimarzio pickups. they all sound more bright to me, when compared to say duncans for instance. i like class fat, meaty sounds like the JB/duncan distortion in the bridge, and a 59/pearly gates in the neck. for shred though the air norton sounds pretty good to me.

Now would a Super Distortion and Air Norton in a Mahogany body set neck guitar sound good bad or who cares?
The Air norton is very good neck pickup but on a guitar a little dark, it can be a little too thick, i don’t like the Air norton to play some edge metal.
(please, excuse my bad English)

I know everyone recommends Air Norton(neck) but I think you need to check it by yourself.
To be honest i’ve had Air Norton in my S2170 mahogany guitar and this pickup is IMHO not so warm like people say and it doesnt sound so nice with single coils. Stock Ibanez/Dimarzio sounds better for me(more vintage sound). Even Super Distortion 3 sounded better in neck position. It could be nice in bright guitars when you need to play metal or some modern tones/not warm. Anyway, its only my opinion
