Ph.D., Anthropology, MA, Consciousness Studies Certified Teacher of the Enneagram in the Narrative Tradition, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist An instructor at HCH, John brings an extensive background in education, the social sciences and interdisciplinary aspects of human consciousness. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and was an anthropology professor for 20 years at one of the Ohio state universities, teaching classes in cultural anthropology and archaeology. Subsequently, he obtained a Masters degree in Consciousness Studies at JFK University, in a program which combined psychology, ecology, “the new science”, and spirituality. A graduate of HCH, he also trained for several years in a form of transpersonal psychology known as Psychosynthesis, and teaches the ways in which this psychology and hypnotherapy can interface with each other. For many years, John has also been a student of the Enneagram as a psychological tool, and trained with Helen Palmer & David Daniels to become a certified teacher John’s long-term interest is in examining the ways in which we unconsciously self-hypnotize ourselves and thus filter our view of reality and limit our perception of who we are, our relationships with others, and what the world is like – and how we can step out of that box and have a truer picture of self and world.
